Can you stream videos on Policy Passport?

Yes, you can!

What are the video streaming options?

There are two options:

Option 1: Use your own Vimeo or YouTube account to generate your unique video code and then distribute the Video using the code on Policy Passport. 

Option 2: Make use of the Policy Passport private video hosting and streaming service. Upload videos directly to your Policy Passport library.

What is the process if I want to stream videos on Policy Passport using Vimeo or YouTube? 

Step 1: Confirm with your IT department that you can use external video hosting platforms. If you are not permitted to use external video hosting platforms, you will be unable to choose this option.

Step 2: Open your own account with your choice of video hosting provider:

Step 3: Upload your content to your platform of choice following their instructions. 

Step 4: Contact us to activate your video subscription.

Step 5: Create your video file for distribution on Policy Passport. Follow the instructions as outlined here

Are there any additional costs if I use Option 1 - YouTube / Vimeo?

YouTube and Vimeo each have their own terms and conditions and pricing. Please visit their website for more information on hosting your videos on their platforms.

 

We do not charge any additional fees if you use this option.

What is the process if I want to stream videos on Policy Passport using the Policy Passport private streaming service?

Step 1:  We will provide you with a quote for these services.

Step 2: Accept the quote and our Video Streaming Fair Usage Policy.

Step 3: We activate your video streaming subscription.

Step 4: Create and distribute your video file on Policy Passport.

What are the additional costs if I use this option?

You will be charged the following:

  • A fixed additional monthly video streaming subscription fee.
  • Additional monthly fees if you exceed our monthly Fair Usage Policy limits. 

 

We will provide you with a quote.

When may I activate the option to host and stream my videos using the Policy Passport private streaming service?

  • You can request the activation of the video subscription at any time during your Policy Passport subscription period.
  • Your monthly video subscription fee will be calculated on pro-rata basis if you activate the video subscription after the commencement of your 12-month Policy Passport subscription period.
  • Your monthly video subscription fee is payable annually in advance.

How many videos can I upload and stream? 

You can upload as many videos as you want, subject to our Fair Usage Policy

How will I be charged for the Policy Passport private streaming service option?

  • We monitor your video streaming usage monthly. 
  • Usage of this feature is subject to our Fair Usage Policy
  • If you exceed the limits as set out in our Fair Usage Policy, you will incur additional monthly fees as set out in your Video Streaming subscription quote.
  • Streaming minutes are calculated based on each full minute a user streams a video. 

 

Example: A 100 employees each watching a 5-minute video will equate to 500 minutes (about 8 and a half hours) of total streaming time. 

How will I know if I exceed the Fair Usage Policy limits?

Your Policy Passport Administrator will receive an email should you exceed the Fair Usage Policy limits.

Which service provider does Policy Passport use to provide video streaming? 

The Policy Passport video streaming service is built on Cloudflare Stream. Cloudflare Stream enables us to meet high demand video streaming whilst delivering video in the most optimised format for the end user.

Safe listing 

Many corporate networks block or restrict access to YouTube and Vimeo due to concerns over productivity and inappropriate content. It can be difficult to safelist individual videos without opening up access to all the videos hosted on the platforms. 

The Policy Passport streaming service is less likely to be blocked by corporate firewalls as it is a bespoke service primarily used for specific content distribution, thus allowing for broader access within corporate environments. Easier to safelist.
